Your notes stay private

Flags, tour notes, contact info, and pricing you enter are saved in your browser's private storage (IndexedDB). No one else — including us — can read this data. It never leaves your device.

🔄

Back it up, share it

Export your research as a .json file to back it up, move it to another device, or share it with a family member helping with the search. Import it back in one click.

Common questions

Who can see my notes and flags?
Only you. Browser storage (IndexedDB) is strictly limited to this site — no other website, app, or server can access it. We have no visibility into anything you save.
What happens if I clear my browser's data?
Your saved notes, flags, and contacts would be wiped along with all other site data. This is why we strongly recommend exporting your data regularly using the Export button in My Data. That file can be re-imported at any time to restore your research.
Will my research carry over if I switch browsers or devices?
Not automatically — browser storage is tied to the specific browser and device you're using. To move your research, export it from My Data on your current device, then import it after opening the site on the new device or browser.
What does "Export My Data" save?
The export saves everything you've personally added — not the facility database. Specifically: all facility flags (Favorite, Like, Pass, Toured, Call), your written notes per facility, contact names and details you've entered, your saved price quotes, and your Shortlist. It does not include the facility listings themselves, which come from public government sources built into the app. The export is a small JSON file you can store anywhere and re-import on any device to restore your research exactly.
Can I use this on my phone or tablet?
Yes, though more features are available for desktop use. For instance, the map is hidden on phones.
How current is the facility data?
Nursing home data is from CMS (February 2026 + Q4 2025). Illinois licensed assisted living data is from IDPH (March 2026). Illinois SLP Dementia Care Settings are from HFS (2025). A subset of assisted living facilities uses Princeton University's 2021 ALF dataset — those records are clearly marked with a "📅 2021 data" badge.

Cost Tier Reference

Tier 1Budget · ~$36k–$54k/yr
Tier 2Mid-Range · ~$54k–$84k/yr
Tier 3Premium · ~$84k–$120k/yr
Tier 4Luxury · ~$120k+/yr

Tiers are regional benchmarks based on state cost-of-living and facility size — not actual pricing. Always call facilities for current rates.

Export and import options are in My Data — back up your research regularly.
